THE Spanish boss of a factory in Shenzhen threatened his employee with a “gun,” which later proved to be a lighter.
The boss whose Chinese name is Jingang argued with an employee surnamed Chen over the compensation demanded after the relocation of a factory house of Fengchi Helmet Products Co. on Tuesday.
During the argument, Jingang suddenly pulled out a “gun,” pointed it at Chen’s forehead and attempted to force him to leave the office.
“I was terrified and could feel the cold of metal on my forehead,” Chen recalled.
When the employees saw this, they blocked the door of the office and called police.
Police officers arrived half an hour later, and took Jingang and Chen to the police station.
Officer Zhu from Xinqiao Police Station said police found the “gun” in the office, but it was a fake gun whose actual function was as a cigarette lighter.
The employer Jingang speaks fluent Chinese.
Lawyer Zhong Guoyong with Guangdong Sun Law Firm said Jingang’ s action did not constitute a criminal offense, as he only threatened, without an intention to commit a crime and didn’t cause any physical injury to Chen. However, Zhong said, Jingang should be reprimanded for his behavior.
