A 12-year-old girl was badly injured by a minibus in central Hunan Province on December 14. Instead of sending her to a hospital, the driver carried her 430 kilometers to Dongguan city of Guangdong Province and dumped her on a road there, causing the girl's death.
The girl was abandoned in a culvert of a newly built road in Dongguan, the home city of the hit-and-run driver Huang Tianshun, who was arrested on Friday, two days after the accident.
The girl's father is in great grief.
Huang, a migrant worker in Dongguan, was driving his uncle home when his vehicle hit the girl on Dcember 14 in Ningyuan County, Hunan Province, causing her face to bleed.
"I planned to send her to a hospital, but my uncle said she was dying and persuaded me to flee," Huang told police.
Fearful of punishment for the girl's death, Huang carried her 430 kilometers to Dongguan, abandoned the child on a new road in Dongguan then drove home.
Police found the girl's body in a culvert which is dark and cold.
