Dongguan International Sci-tech Cooperation Week opens

The Dongguan International Sci-Tech Cooperation Week (DISTC) commenced on December 15th at the Dongguan International Conference and Exhibition Centre.

For the eighth consecutive year, the Dongguan International Sci-Tech Cooperation Week (DISTC) commenced on December 15th at the Dongguan International Conference and Exhibition Centre to showcase the advanced science and technology projects from home and abroad.

China's Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang, Guangdong's vice governor Chen Yunxian, Dongguan's Party Chief Xu Jianhua and Dongguan's acting mayor Yuan Baocheng addressed the opening ceremony on December 15th.

Scheduled for December 15th to December 17th 2011, the event is jointly organized by the Dongguan People's Government and the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, with the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) as one of the supporting organizations.

The 2011 DISTC aims to encourage innovation and invention for sustainable development. Offering a platform for collaboration in science and technology, the event features a series of activities including exhibitions, forums, technology transfer and matching sessions for high-level talents and employers.

Guangdong's vice governor Chen Yunxian addressed the opening ceremony.

As one of the most prestigious event of its kind in China, the event showcases a spectrum of new inventions covering the environmental, telecommunications, bio-engineering, and optical sectors, as well as new energy and new materials.

For the first time, the event lays emphasis on high-level talents' role in the process of innovation and invention, with a job matching session December 15 which attracts 50 employers and over 170 personnel with doctor and postdoctoral degrees.
