Migrant workers offered access to university

3760 young migrant workers from Dongguan City, South China's Guangdong province have won the chance to study at some of the country's most prestigious universities for free this year, Dongguan Daily reported Tuesday.

Those lucky workers are chosen after two months of tests and training where they will spend 2.5 to 5 years studying at the Distance Education College of Peking University, Tianjing University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Huazhong University of Sciecence and Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technologyand South China Normal University.

Those who are qualified to pass exams can get a diploma.

The program called "Realizing Dreaming" is a joint venture between the Guangdong Communist Youth League and some universities.

About 24 thousand migrant workers from several cities in Guangdong Province applied for program in total since last May. And 9,656 of them have won the chance after tests and trainings.
