Traditional wedding in Nanshe Village
Located in Chashan Town of Dongguan City, Nanshe Village is a key cultural relic unit under State Protections and a famous historical and cultural village of China. Established at the end of the South Song Dynasty, this village with a history of 800 years and an area of about 110,000 m2 still preserves a comparatively complete layout, streets and drainage systems of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are 30 ancestral temples of the Ming and Qing Dynasty, about 250 old residents’ houses, 3 Buddhist temples, more than 30 ancient tombs, about 40 ancient wells and several ancient pools.
The site selection and layout plan accentuate the "combination of nature and human", for the natural conditions are appropriately utilized and the topography and geomorphology of the Pearl River delta are properly related. Thus the location as near mountains and by the rivers becomes strong cultural characteristics of Guangdong. This village has still preserved traditional folk customs such as ancestor worshiping, god praying, ghost shouting, funeral attending and bride snatching etc. It is a relic tourism scenic spot and a place for leisure with enormous characteristics of the city, the Pear River delta and even Guangdong province.
