Dongguan Keyuan garden is one of the four well-known Guangdong gardens of the Qing Dynasty. The freshly designed Keyuan Garden has a delicate and logical layout with its beautiful and peaceful scenery. The ancient buildings in the garden, low and high, have a very clear gradation and match each other perfectly. Skillful layout can be seen from buildings of clear gradation, circling corridors, several pavilions inside, lovely hills and twisting streams. Numerous flowers and trees are planted in this luxuriously-decorated garden. Ke Lake which makes the garden more charming due to the blue reflecting water is also the attractive and lovely scenery. Keyuan Garden was the gathering place for the intellectuals at that time. Ju Lian and Ju Chao who started the Lingnan (South China) painting school lived in Keyuan Garden for ten years, making this garden the cradle of the Lingnan painting school. As another key cultural relic unit under State Protections, Keyuan Garden accounts for a significant status of the modern art history and architectual history of Guangdong.
