During the New Year's Day holiday, there will be a couple of events held in Dongguan.

1. New Year Concert by Moscow State Symphony Orchestra (Jan.1)

The Moscow State Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1989 by conductor Dmitry Orlov. This orchestra is the only symphonic institution in Russia and in the world to have devoted its entire concert activity to ethical and musical education of the young generation.

The touring repertoire always consists of the most sophisticated pieces of classical music. For instance, in March 2007, the Orchestra toured ten cities of Germany, including Cologne and Bayreuth, with Symphony NO.9 and Festive Overture by Shostakovich, Symphony NO.2 by Borodin, St.John's Night on the Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky, Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture and Variations on a Rococo Theme for cello and orchestra by Tchaikovsky , Symphony NO.2 and Piano Concerto NO.2 by Rachmaninov, Petrushka by Stravinsky ,Cello Concerto by Dvorak.

2. The Haygoods American Pop Music Concert (Jan.6)
